I'm delighted to be able to announce that St Peter's will be open for public worship from Sunday 12th July 2020.
The PCC has met and having taken into account a risk assessment and advice from the Church of England has decided on arrangements which will allow us to open but keep everyone safe.
Initially we will have a said service at 10:00 am on a Sunday, with music provided by Audrey but no singing, and a said service at 09:30 on Wednesdays. The 10:00 am service will also be offered by Zoom and we hope it may also be live streamed. If you would like to join the service via Zoom, please email firstname.lastname@example.org to receive the joining instructions. To join via Facebook, please click here
You will find that things will be different:
In order to ensure everyone’s safety and to maintain social distancing we cannot use all the pews and the total capacity of church will be reduced to 32.
You will be required to sanitise your hands on entry to the church.
In the sanctuary will be the president and one other with no acolytes and no servers. The gospel will be said from the sanctuary.
Communion will be offered in one kind at the centre front of church without kneeling at the altar rails. PCC have discussed and decided on how people will move to receive communion and this will be explained before we start the service.
You will not be able to sit in your favourite seat. You will be directed to fill up church from the front pew towards the back and with limited numbers in each pew.
There will be no physical touching at the Peace, no choir, no offertory procession, no toilets and no refreshments.
People who are elderly or vulnerable must make their own decision about attending. If you decide to attend we will not turn you away. The wearing of face masks is a personal decision.
The PCC decided that we needed to set up a booking system so if you would like to attend the Sunday service please ring me on a Saturday from 10:00am onwards on 07748881533. I will need the names of those attending in each party and a contact number. It was felt that a booking system was necessary to avoid people travelling to church only to find we had more attendees than we can accommodate with the new arrangements. If you are joining us in Church, please watch both of the videos below, so that you know what to expect.
Times and arrangements are very different but it will be an enormous pleasure to see familiar faces again. Those who choose not to join us in person will be able to see those faces via the wonders of technology!
